One hour with Strombo

George Stroumboulopoulos is the host of CBC News: The Hour, CBC Newsworld's prime-time news and current affairs program. Covering the day's stories and issues from a variety of viewpoints, the live newscast focuses on everything from Canadian politics to international headlines to the latest from the world of entertainment.
Stroumboulopoulos began his journalism career in 1993 working at a rock station in Kelowna, B.C. He moved east that same year after being offered a job at Toronto sports radio station The Fan 590 AM, where he stayed until rock station 102.1 The Edge persuaded him to switch from talk radio to music in 1997.
Most recently, Stroumboulopoulos worked at MuchMusic as producer and host of The Punk Show, host of The NewMusic, LOUD and MuchNews.
Stroumboulopoulos's career highlights include an exclusive interview with U2's Bono at the Liberal Leadership Convention; traveling to Zambia to co-host a documentary commemorating World AIDS Day; interviewing former prime minister Jean Chrétien for MuchMusic; and presenting the case for winning candidate Tommy Douglas in CBC Television's nation-wide search for The Greatest Canadian.
